About Us Clinical Psychology Clinical Psychologists within the palliative care service provide psychological assessments and interventions for people with progressive, life-limiting illness. Illness-related difficulties include anxiety, depression, adjustment difficulties, existential distress, trauma, sleep difficulties, behavioural disturbances, and physical concerns, such as pain or eating problems. Psychologists will see inpatients in the Sacred Heart Health Service Palliative Care ward, and will do home visits to community patients within the SVH and Prince of Wales Hospital catchment areas. Where required, clinical psychologists are available to provide assessment and treatment advice for family or carers with mental health concerns. They also provide consultation, advice and education to service providers. Referrals Referrals are only accepted for patients of the St Vincent's palliative care service. For inpatients, referrals for psychology services are made via SVH Wed DeLacy (to Liaison Psychiatry) by the treating medical team. For community patients living within the SVH and Prince of Wales Hospital catchment areas, referrals are made by the treating clinician or case managing nurse and faxed to the Liaison Psychiatry Department.
