Haematology
Our Haematology Department provides expert and compassionate care for patients with blood disorders and blood cancers including anaemia, blood clotting and bleeding disorders, leukaemia, lymphoma and multiple myeloma.
We have a world-class Bone Marrow and Blood Stem Cell Transplantation Service and are credited with performing the first adult bone marrow transplant in Australia in 1975. We also provide outreach clinical services to Southern NSW with clinics in Griffith and Wagga Wagga.
Our Department manages an expert Haematology Laboratory as well as blood transfusion services. Our team also runs an ongoing research program covering stem cell disorders and transplantation, platelet disorders, cancers affecting immunosuppressed patients and stem cell transplantation for patients with severe autoimmune diseases.
