Exciting opportunities exist at St Vincent’s for experienced SRMO’s looking to pursue a career in complex clinical care at one of Australia’s most highly regarded hospitals, with a reputation for treating high acuity and complex patient loads.
Here at St Vincent’s we provide significant training and research opportunities across several specialty units that are internationally recognised as centres of excellence, and house the top Physician Training Program in the state. We also offer training opportunities for those interested in GP, Psychiatry, or other specialties.
We offer a number of term rotations to our junior doctors, including opportunities to work on clinically complex cases in specialty units including Cardiology, Emergency medicine, Haematology, Intensive Care, Medical Oncology, Respiratory medicine and more. As part of our commitment to providing healthcare at the edge our SRMOs also have the opportunity to work as part of our Drug and Alcohol, HIV Medicine, Palliative Care, Homeless Health and Mental Health teams. Five SRMOs will also have the opportunity to complete a 10-12 week GP clinic placement in remote and Indigenous medicine in Far North Queensland.
Outside of your core clinical training, St Vincent’s also offers a number of support and wellbeing programs tailored towards our Junior Doctors. Our mentoring programs pairs our junior doctors up with a colleague a few years ahead of them who is working in their training area of interest, while our Rainbow Resident program offers peer support from residents to help new interns negotiate their transition to the wards. In addition our enthusiastic RMO association supports JMOs in their day to day wellbeing and organises regular social and networking events.
