About Us

The Clinical Psychology service at The Kinghorn Cancer Centre and St Vincent’s Hospital provides psychological support, therapy and counselling to cancer patients and their families. We support people experiencing a range of psychological concerns associated with cancer including: adjustment to cancer diagnosis, depression, anxiety, anger, helplessness, grief & loss, difficulties with family relationships, carer concerns, managing treatment side effects, fear of needles, claustrophobia or anticipatory nausea, and post-treatment concerns (fear of cancer recurrence, body image, intimacy).

To be eligible for the Service, patients must be:

  • Receiving cancer treatment at St Vincent's Public Hospital, The Kinghorn Cancer Centre or be a public patient of Genesis Care, 
  • The carer of an eligible patient, 
  • Presenting with issues that are directly related to the cancer diagnosis, treatment or post-treatment adjustment.
