Sydney Volunteer Opportunities in Healthcare - St Vincent's Hospital Sydney

Volunteering at St Vincent’s Hospital Sydney

Volunteers are an integral part of the care provided by St Vincent’s and play a crucial role in our health service. Our volunteers are very well supported and receive full Hospital orientation and training where required.

Some of the ways our volunteers can help include:

  • Serving at our Hospital convenience story, ‘The Little Shop’
  • Providing companionship for our patients
  • Trolley services
  • Hospitality desk services
  • Escorting and assisting patients and visitors
  • Assisting on various wards, including aged care and ICU
  • Administration
  • Biography Services for our palliative care patients

Our patients and their families benefit greatly from our volunteers’ contribution and our volunteers regularly report that they learn about their strengths and talents, develop new skills and expand their social circles.

In accordance with NSW Health Guidelines, prospective volunteers need to meet the following criteria:

  • Be 18 or older
  • Attend a Volunteer Information Session
  • Undergo a criminal record and working with children clearance check
