Xavier 9 North has 26 beds, along with an 8 bed Medical Assessment Unit. As a Nurse on X9N you will evaluate and manage the physical, cognitive, functional and social issues of older adults. Its’ core work is management of the common geriatric syndromes of dementia, delirium, falls, urinary incontinence, polypharmacy, and frailty, plus other medical problems occurring in older people with multiple co-morbidities.
Medical Assessment Unit (MAU) provides comprehensive multidisciplinary assessments to support the elderly in their acute admission into St Vincent’s hospital. MAU is often the initial assessment location from the emergency department or directly from the community. We aim for the MAU to be a maximum 24 hour stay unit.
