But they can be taken in the other order, or separately. Introduction to Cancer: Understanding Cancer Workshop: This workshop explores what cancer is, how different cancers are diagnosed, and the rationale behind different treatment approaches. Introduction to Cancer: Nursing Management Workshop: This workshop explores how nurses can make an enormous difference to patients’ quality of life, experiences and overall outcomes of treatment. Speakers: The program is facilitated by a range of clinical experts in cancer care including; Clinical Nurse Consultants, Clinical Nurse Educators, Clinical Nurse Specialists, Medical specialists and allied health Key topics: On completion of this study day, it is anticipated that participants will be able to: - Outline cancer nursing with an appreciation of the principles of oncology and haematology malignancies - Identify cancer cell variables, diagnostic strategies & interpretation to assess treatment options - Apply principles of surgical management and nursing care of a patient with a malignant disease - Discuss principles and nursing management of medical and radiation oncology treatments - Discuss principles and nursing management of bone marrow and stem cell transplant treatment - Discuss Genetics, Fertility and Pregnancy options and treatment related effects - Treatment and disease related symptom management - Outline palliative care management for the cancer patient and their family Who should attend: The workshop is designed for Registered Nurses working in all settings and specialties. As we know, patients often have two or more comorbidities, which can include cancer. This pathway offers a robust overview of cancer and cancer therapies.
