Course overview:

The two workshops are complementary, ideally taking the ‘Understanding Cancer Workshop’ followed by the ‘Nursing Management Workshop’. But they can be taken in the other order, or separately.

Introduction to Cancer: Understanding Cancer Workshop: 
This workshop explores what cancer is, how different cancers are diagnosed, and the rationale behind different treatment approaches.

Introduction to Cancer: Nursing Management Workshop:
This workshop explores how nurses can make an enormous difference to patients’ quality of life, experiences and overall outcomes of treatment.

Speakers:

The program is facilitated by a range of clinical experts in cancer care including; Clinical Nurse Consultants, Clinical Nurse Educators, Clinical Nurse Specialists, Medical specialists and allied health

Key topics:

On completion of this study day, it is anticipated that participants will be able to:
- Outline cancer nursing with an appreciation of the principles of oncology and haematology malignancies
- Identify cancer cell variables, diagnostic strategies & interpretation to assess treatment options
- Apply principles of surgical management and nursing care of a patient with a malignant disease
- Discuss principles and nursing management of medical and radiation oncology treatments
- Discuss principles and nursing management of bone marrow and stem cell transplant treatment
- Discuss Genetics, Fertility and Pregnancy options and treatment related effects
- Treatment and disease related symptom management
- Outline palliative care management for the cancer patient and their family

Who should attend:

The workshop is designed for Registered Nurses working in all settings and specialties. As we know, patients often have two or more comorbidities, which can include cancer. This pathway offers a robust overview of cancer and cancer therapies.

Full pathway $350 + GST
Individual workshops $150 + GST

Parking:

Participants are required to organise their own travel and parking arrangements.

Cancellation policy:

Cancellation provided up to 5 working days before the program a full refund will be issued.
Cancellation past the 5 working days and before 24 hours prior to the program half refund will be issued.
Cancellation with 24hrs prior to the program no refund is issued.
