NSW Health is coordinating the implementation of the NSW State-wide Referral Criteria (SRC) for public specialist Ear, Nose & Throat (ENT) outpatient services. The SRC aims to streamline and prioritise patient referrals, ensuring safe and timely access to care.
The Department of ENT, St Vincent’s Health Network Sydney (SVHNS), is adopting the SRC framework to triage and manage referrals for the following conditions:
- Allergic rhinitis
- Nasal congestion or obstruction
- Recurrent tonsillitis
- Salivary gland disorders
- Sensorineural hearing loss
- Thyroid mass
- Voice disorders

Please note that for the SVHNS team to triage and manage referrals, completing the required information is essential to minimise delays in processing a patient's referral.
The SVHNS team will continue to triage and manage all other ENT referrals through the current process.
