With thanks to funding from St Vincent’s Health Australia Inclusive Health Program, the mobile clinic will provide high quality specialist healthcare to vulnerable populations, in particular people experiencing or at risk of homelessness. The vehicle will be equipped with contemporary equipment including cardiac monitoring, metabolic monitoring, COVID-19 vaccination and testing, and telehealth video conferencing. The interior space itself includes a waiting area, private assessment space and examination bed. The mobile clinic aims to improve access to healthcare for vulnerable populations by providing early intervention, strengthening client support networks and assisting people to engage effectively with healthcare in the community. Providing more than generalised primary healthcare, the Integrated Care Mobile Clinic will facilitate direct access to specialist appointments via telehealth, meaning that eligible communities are able to access the care they need without having to come to hospital. For people who often face barriers to engaging with medical care, this novel addition of the Mobile Clinic will be a game-changer. The Clinic will be heading to identified inner city areas where there are higher concentrations of vulnerable people, and will be on the road in the coming months.
