Gorman Unit

Gorman Inpatient Unit

Gorman Inpatient Unit provides holistic, short-stay care (3-5 days) to people seeking alcohol and other drug treatment.

Treatment eligibility criteria:

  • Adult patients 18 years and over
  • Seeking treatment for substance use

The following conditions apply to the inpatient unit:

  • No visitors during inpatient stay 
  • No leave from the unit is allowed
  • No smoking. Nicotine replacement therapy (NRT) will be provided if needed. 
  • Electronic equipment including lap tops, iPads® and mobile telephones are not permitted to be used while in the unit

Gorman Unit Multidisciplinary Outpatient Service

The Gorman Unit Multidisciplinary Outpatient Service operates Monday to Thursday, 1.00pm to 4.00pm, via appointment.

The service provides:

  • Follow up care post discharge from Gorman Unit
  • Ambulatory withdrawal  management 
  • Short term counselling
  • Relapse prevention
  • Comprehensive drug and alcohol assessment and treatment plannning

Referrals to Gorman Inpatient Unit and Gorman Unit Multidisciplinary Outpatient Service

Self-referrals to the Gorman Unit services can be made by calling the Alcohol and Drug Service Centralised Intake number on 9361 8080 (Monday-Friday 0830-1600).

GP or other clinician referrals can be made by:

  • Calling the Alcohol and Drug Service Centralised Intake number on 9361 8080 (Monday-Friday 0830-1600)
  • Emailing the referral to svhs.adsintake@svha.org.au
